Tube Methods was approached by a client in the medial industry and asked to manufacture high precision cobalt cardiovascular stent tubing. The tubing was first designed and prototyped through an exacting research and development process.
We handled the entire development of the tubing, from the initial melt through the final product. Extruded tube could not meet the client’s requirements, so we used custom bar and gun drilled the raw materials to a finished tube. The tubing was then put through medical cleaning and a specialized annealing process. The detailed inspection process included checks for concentricity, wall run out, eddy current, chemistry, mechanical property and 100% straightness verification. The critical applications the tubing would be used for left no room for error. Throughout the entire delicate process, we held tightest tolerances. Each year, we produce enough tubing to produce over 3 million medical stents.
